Our Mission

By offering a revolutionary re-powering service, NewPower, in collaboration with Wrightbus, leverages the unmatched expertise of Wrightbus’ 1,800-strong workforce to replace diesel engines with electric powertrains. This innovative service ensures that our clients can achieve instant decarbonisation without the need for significant funding for new zero-emission buses.

Our Expertise

Wrightbus, the first Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to offer such a repowering service, brings unparalleled skills to the table. Our master technicians, who originally built these buses, possess unrivalled expertise in swapping powertrains. This unique capability allows us to perform conversions in as little as three weeks, with facilities capable of working on six buses simultaneously. Our goal is to decarbonise up to 500 buses annually, significantly contributing to improved air quality and reduced carbon emissions.

Environmental Impact

Traditional buses consume 40,000 litres of diesel per year. Our zero-emission buses have already travelled over 14 million miles, saving over 24,000 tonnes of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.

Our Team

NewPower has bolstered its team with senior hires from prestigious automotive backgrounds, including Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, BMW, and McLaren. Initially creating 22 jobs, we expect to have 65 staff on site by the end of the year, driving our ambitious plans for growth and widespread European expansion.

Assessment and Planning

Leveraging Wrightbus’ extensive experience, our engineering team conducts a thorough assessment of your bus fleet to identify the best candidates for repowering.

Homologation and Testing:
Each bus undergoes rigorous testing and homologation to ensure it meets all safety and performance standards.

Conversion Process

Cost-Effective Solution:
Our repowering service costs less than half the price of a new battery electric bus, making it a financially viable option for many operators.

Extended Bus Life:
The repowering process extends the life of a midlife bus asset by 10 years, significantly reducing the carbon footprint associated with manufacturing a new bus.

Comprehensive Refurbishment

Full Inspection and Repair:
Every bus is fully checked and repaired to ensure it is 100% ready for its MOT.

Optional Refurbishment:
We offer options to refurbish the bus, including repainting, new upholstery, and interior refurbishment, giving your bus a fresh new look.

Diesel Powertrain Management

Backup Spares:
The diesel powertrain can be refurbished and returned to your depot as backup spare parts for your remaining diesel fleet, providing additional value and support.

Warranty and Support

Warranty Coverage:
We offer a limited 10-year warranty (estimated at 40,000 miles per year) to give you peace of mind.

Service Network:
Our extensive service support network ensures that your buses are well-maintained and any issues are promptly addressed.

Swift Turnaround

Efficient Process:
Once the necessary parts are available, the conversion process takes just three weeks, minimising downtime and maximising efficiency.

Final Touches

Brand Integrity:
